Ken Hudson is a Senior Consultant with Draper & Associates' Construction Services Division. He brings a wealth of management and supervisory experience including business operations, project and contract administration, as well as in field engineering and quality assurance/quality control relative to various types of construction and facility/plant operations and outages. In addition, Mr. Hudson has valued expertise in providing claims analysis support services.

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Hudson has more than 24 years experience in the construction industry, working in a variety of positions ranging from quality control manager and project superintendent to general manager of business operations. His project experience includes heavy civil, industrial facilities, airports, nuclear power plants and electrical stations.

Currently, Mr. Hudson is assigned to the firm's engagement with Florida's Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) where he provides support to the designated FTE Project Managers and Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) entity in the oversight and management of Turnpike construction contracts. His project responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
  • Performing technical and contstructability reviews
  • Attending weekly coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders
  • Tracking issues and disputes to ensure that they are resolved and equitably settled in a timely manner and in accordance with the contract documents

Prior to joining Draper & Associates, Mr. Hudson gained experience through work with a variety of clients on the following projects:

  • As a Project Manager and Quality Control Manager for Modern Continental South, Inc., Mr. Hudson was responsible for all quality assurance for the company. His responsibilities included program and procedure development for projects ranging from heavy civil, such as roads, bridges and pump stations, to industrial facilities that included water treatment, power, and pulp and paper. In addition, Mr. Hudson acted as Project Manager/Superintendent to various projects including the Palm Beach International Airport one of the largest segmental bridge projects in Florida with a contract value of approximately $115 million. Mr. Hudson also held business development responsibilities for the company.

  • For Omega Consultants, Inc. & Atlantic Management Consultants, Mr. Hudson served as the General Manager, responsible for all day-to-day operations of the corporate and regional/ project offices as well as for its direct project related work. With an annual operating budget of more than $3 million and a staff of approximately 30, Mr. Hudson oversaw the management and development of project submittals and solicitations, recruited personnel, developed cost and pricing data and performed contract negotiations.

  • As a Project Manager for Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, Mr. Hudson served as the project manager for the implementation and execution of the General Site Testing Services subcontract at the Savannah River site. The annual project budget was in excess of $2.5 million with an average staff of 38 personnel. In addition, Mr. Hudson held supplementary corporate responsibilities that included business development.

  • For EBASCO Services Incorporated, Mr. Hudson served as a Quality Control engineer and the Superintendent of the quality control engineering department, responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of the site quality assurance manual and implementing procedures. In addition, Mr. Hudson provided oversight for procurements and requisitions, estimating and material take-off, building and facility maintenance and modifications, budget development and tracking, clerical support, and employee training.

  • As the Quality Control Manager/Inspector for all quality-related activities for Zurn Industries, Mr. Hudson's projects included the construction of natural draft cooling towers for a fossil power project and nuclear power project.

While attending Western Kentucky University, Mr. Hudson served as an Engineering Aide for the Kentucky Department of Transportation where he performed quality control inspections and field engineering functions for road and bridge construction and batch plant operations, as well as soils and concrete installation. Mr. Hudson also performed material take-off and obtained and compiled data from various surveys such as truck weight, origin and destination.
