Atlanta, Georgia

  INDUSTRY: Higher Education
  SERVICE AREA(S): Scheduling Project Controls

Draper & Associates provided scheduling services to Whiting Turner (General Contractor) in support of the construction of this Phase II Building of the Emory Science 2000 Program. This U-shaped building, which is designed of three wings for a combined total of more than 160,000 square feet, is the new home for Atlanta based, Emory University 's environmental studies program.

While maintaining an architectural façade similar to much of Emory University's oldest architecture, the $35.8 million state of the art facility consists of sophisticated lab space, auditoriums, multi-media classrooms, office space, and a two-story planetarium. The roof of the building also features an observation deck containing telescopes for environmental studies experiments. In addition, Emory Science 2000 also provides a home for the college departments of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Physical Science.

Draper & Associates' scheduling services provided the Overall Project Schedule; progress meeting facilitation, site walks, construction status reports, and trend analysis during construction. The building began construction in the summer of 2000 as planned. The project remained on schedule for its duration and accomplished the targeted owner move-in date of the Fall 2002 semester.
