Wuesthoff Health Systems has begun construction of a state-of-the-art 50-bed acute-care hospital as part of its new, 20-acre Medical Center in Melbourne.

The new Wuesthoff Medical Center, located in Melbourne, Florida will provide a real choice of healthcare options to residents, patients, employers, insurers, physicians, and tax-funded programs like Medicare and Medicaid.

The new medical center consists of four major components to address the healthcare needs of the 250,000 residents of Brevard County: (1) a 50-bed Acute-Care hospital, (2) a Comprehensive Outpatient Diagnostic and Surgical Center, (3) a Medical Office Building, and (4) a Hospice House. Construction is expected to be completed in Winter 2002.

DRAPER & ASSOCIATES is providing construction scheduling and project control services for this project. Draper & Associates will provide both construction schedule development and construction monitoring services during all phases of the project. A Draper consultant conducts bi-weekly project coordination meetings with the owner, the general contractor and principal subcontractors. During these meetings, progress is measured and correlated to the Overall Project Schedule, action items are identified with responsibility for completion and commitments for completion dates, and detailed near-term scheduling are developed to ensure timely accomplishment of Overall Project Schedule target dates. Updated schedules and complete documentation are provided within forty-eight hours of these meetings to all project participants.
