Draper & Associates (Draper) is currently seeking a detail-oriented Project Consultant to join our team in supporting various construction consulting projects based out of the firm’s Atlanta, GA, Fort Lauderdale, FL, or Houston, TX office. Under the supervision of the Vice President, Managing Consultant, and/or Senior Consultant, the Project Consultant position provides a broad range of administrative, managerial, and technical support on Draper projects. This individual is responsible for providing project control tools including meeting minutes, action item lists, trend charts, and project schedules. This individual has a proven ability to manage smaller, less complex projects without direction and can effectively apply the Draper system to these projects to deliver client success.
To ensure success, the Project Consultant should be organized, understand construction means and methods, and have demonstrable experience in construction management and project scheduling.
Construction Project Consultants Responsibilities
- Assisting in developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules for multiple construction projects of various sizes and complexity
- With minimal guidance and supervision, work with project stakeholders to identify detailed tasks, durations, dependencies, and resources to build the Overall Project Schedule
- Update and maintain the Overall Project Schedules and Near-Term Schedules throughout the lifecycle of assigned projects
- Provide analysis, evaluation, and forecasting of current project status with the established baseline schedule. Access schedule performance and advise the team on status and preventive/corrective actions required
- Assist in assessing the impact of design and/or construction changes and schedule slippage
- Track actual versus planned utilizing the Draper Trend Chart
- If required, develop, and maintain Material Status Log (MAT STAT) on assigned projects
- Document and track issues, risks, and action items through resolution
- Continually walks construction job sites to review activity progress and utilizes Walking Papers to capture and report progress
- Conduct project meetings and prepare comprehensive and professional Progress Reports for stakeholders that accurately depict project status, action items, and areas of concern
- Read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Utilizes computer programs (Office, Visio, Primavera P6, Project) as required to manage project schedules and other deliverables
- Builds and maintains solid working relationships with clients at the staff level
- Meets internal and external customer requirements and standards
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or other related technical fields with a minimum of two years of experience within the construction industry.
And/Or
- 10+ years of relevant construction-related work experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills; extremely attentive to detail and capable of producing professional and accurate written business communication.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Physically able to safely walk multi-story buildings while under construction.
- Must be able to travel (40%-60%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret building and site plans and specifications
- A minimum of five years of scheduling experience within the construction industry
- Understanding of the Critical Path Methodology
- Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or alternative industry-standard CPM scheduling software
- PMI-SP or PSP certification
