MARTA Elevator & Escalator Modernization

Draper & Associates was selected by Schindler Elevator Corporation to provide project scheduling and reporting services on its multi-million-dollar contract to modernize and maintain 109 elevators and 116 escalators at 38 stations throughout the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) system. This modernization and maintenance project, with an anticipated duration of approximately 10 years, will provide MARTA with one of the most advanced transit systems in the world.

MARTA is the eighth largest rapid transit system in the United States, providing service to more than 134 million riders annually in Atlanta, Georgia, including service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest in the world.

The contract is part of the MARTA Transformation Initiative (MTI), a program focused on specific goals for providing the best benefits to the Authority and its stakeholders over the next five years, including saving money, developing better strategies, and taking advantage of new technology. Schindler Elevator Corporation was selected for this engagement based upon their successful modernization of 33 escalators completed in 2011 and an outstanding historical maintenance record with MARTA.

For Draper & Associates, this is an opportunity to continue providing its scheduling expertise on another exciting MARTA project. Draper is responsible for the project’s Baseline Schedule, making monthly updates to the schedule to show progress and modifications, and generating monthly narrative reports outlining the status of the project.
