Founded in 1984, Draper & Associates is a construction consulting firm focused on assisting our clients in delivering successful projects.

Over our history, we have worked on more than 4,900 projects throughout the United States and Internationally. We have worked in a wide variety of markets for Owners, Developers, and Contractors. However, our guiding principle is the project is our client and our sole focus is on ensuring project success.

As independent construction consultants, we are dedicated to the highest quality of customer service delivered with a superior scheduling and project control process that facilitates Accountability, Objectivity, and Control.

Our People

We believe the most important skill set of an effective scheduling consultant is a diverse knowledge of construction. While this may seem like common sense, across the industry there are many calling themselves construction schedulers because they can operate a computer program.

Our consultants have expertise across a range of tools utilized in the construction industry including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. However, they also bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise to ensure that what goes into the schedule is realistic and achievable.

Our expertise and focus on the schedule assist our clients in proactively identifying and overcoming complex issues that could potentially have a negative impact. Our consultants see a wide variety of projects across the country each year. This experience is what they bring to the table to help your project succeed.

The Draper System

The Draper System was born out of the need to take a complex process that involves a large number of interrelated activities and present it to a diverse group of stakeholders. This information should be clearly understood, communicated and implemented. We believe people comprehend and retain information more effectively when it is presented in a graphical nature. This is apparent in the tools our consultants utilize.

The foundation for any construction project is the Overall Project Schedule (OPS). The Draper Graphic OPS is a Critical Path Method (CPM), time-scaled network diagram. We believe this format offers our client multiple benefits including:

While having an overall plan for achieving project success is critical, we understand that situations arise which impact the plan and our consultants work with the project team to identify and solve issues before the impact the project delivery. The Draper consultant has a broad array of tools that are utilized across the life cycle of a project.

Another key tenant of the Draper System is utilizing a team-based approach to planning and managing a construction schedule. The latest buzzwords in the industry are Pull Planning and Lean Scheduling. The core components of these systems are found within the Draper system. We have been practicing them since 1984.

A project that is scheduled with Draper affords the user the flexibility to present the data to the Subcontractor’s and the Development Team in multiple formats (both overall and near term projections).
